Job summary

WHKS is seeking a detailed and technically oriented survey technician to join our civil engineering team in Minnesota. You will work with surveying and engineering professionals on a variety of field projects across the state, with potential overnight travel.

Qualifications

• 0–5+ years of field survey and GPS experience.
• An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Excellent computer and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle workload.
• Able to perform physical tasks and operate equipment safely.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary and topographic surveys, platting, and construction staking for various private and public projects.
• Perform project staking and layout.
• Complete survey computations.
• Verify field dimensions and elevations to project plans.
• Operate survey equipment utilizing GPS, Total Station, and leveling instruments.
• Perform other survey-related duties primarily in the field.

As a survey technician, you will collaborate with other surveying and engineering professionals on various survey work throughout the state of Minnesota. This is a full time position with benefits and may include some overnight travel.

Qualifications

Required

• 0 – 5+ years of field survey and GPS experience.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated math skills.
• Excellent computer and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Must be able to manage workload independently.
• Ability:
  • Perform physical tasks that may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Remain in a stationary position and/or move about the work site, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing, for extended periods.
• Work in varying outdoor weather conditions or environments.

Preferred

• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Trimble equipment and software.
