Job description

Job Summary

Survey Crew Chief to head survey crew and oversee completion of field surveys, including boundary, topographic, land title surveys, construction staking, data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and preparation of survey documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field survey crew to complete surveys.
• Assist with data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and preparation of right‑of‑way plats, certified survey maps, and boundary surveys.
• Provide technical assistance with writing and interpreting easement descriptions and courthouse research for property information.

Essential Qualifications

• Well‑developed understanding of field survey methods, plan reading, and calculations.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Physical ability to walk, climb rough terrain, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors up to 8‑12 hours in varying temperatures.
• Ability to travel as needed for projects, team meetings, and overnight stays.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of field and/or office survey experience.
• Experience with boundary/land surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking using Total Stations and GPS.
• Experience drafting computations, understanding plans and easement descriptions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Field experience with Trimble Survey Equipment.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Office.

Open to candidates residing in Rochester, MN. Candidates residing in AK, AR, CA, CT, DE, HI, KY, MA, RI, VT, and PR may not be considered. Candidates willing to relocate should indicate.

Compensation & Benefits

Base compensation $26–$36 per hour based on skill set and experience. Benefits include paid family leave, flexible holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package.
