Job summary

Mark Thomas is seeking a Survey Technician II to join the growing survey team. The role supports preparing deliverables on time and within budget, assists licensed surveyors, drafts descriptions, and uses CADD software for mapping and calculations. Hybrid/remote work options are available.

Qualified candidates will have relevant experience, basic survey calculation knowledge, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and related tools. A strong team player is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; BS/AA in survey or drafting preferred.
  • Equivalent experience considered in lieu of formal education.
  • 2-6+ years of relevant experience in surveying or drafting.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Proficiency in survey drafting software is required.
  • Drafting/CADD certificates preferred.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Uses survey CADD software to prepare mapping plats, maps, ALTA surveys and more.
  • Drafts legal descriptions and other survey documents.
  • Assists licensed surveyors with Right of Way/property boundaries.
  • Interprets maps and deeds for accurate property descriptions.
  • Peer reviews CADD mapping work of other technicians.
  • Generates records requests for utility information and maps utilities.
  • Supports storage, transport, assembly, operation and maintenance of survey equipment.

Mark Thomas is hiring a Survey Technician II to add to our growing survey team! The Survey Technician II is a member of the project team able to independently and successfully prepare assigned deliverables on time and within budget. The Survey Technician II is responsible for performing additional and/or elevated project tasks and has the ability and proficiency to provide assistance to experienced technicians and licensed surveyors. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uses survey CADD software to assist in preparation of mapping plats, maps, descriptions, ALTA surveys and other deliverables, Topographic Mapping, Digital Terrain Models (DTM's), Point Databases, and calculations for field crews
  • Drafts legal descriptions and other survey documents
  • Assists licensed surveyors with resolving Right of Way/property boundaries by researching property information
  • Interprets maps and deeds necessary for creating accurate property descriptions
  • Peer reviews other technicians’ CADD mapping work
  • Generates records requests for utility information and maps existing utilities
  • Provides support related to storage, transportation, assembly, operation and maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles as needed
  • Completes training and attends meetings as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent; BS or AA with a survey or drafting emphasis preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of formal education
  • 2-6+ years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Proficient in survey drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, TopoDOT, and Trimble Business Center (TBC), InRoads)
  • Basic knowledge of survey calculations, principles, terms and deliverables
  • Drafting/CADD certificates preferred
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills
  • Ability to multi- task and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
