Job summary

Mark Thomas in the Survey and Mapping Division is seeking a Survey Specialist I to execute and deliver on multiple client projects. The role may include specialized field tasks and mentoring junior staff, contributing to project success across deliverables and scopes.

Ideal candidates hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in a survey-related field with MicroStation, TopoDOT, Scan extraction and LiDAR experience; LSIT/GISP preferred. Strong communication and time management are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a survey-related field preferred.
• Must have MicroStation, TopoDOT, Scan extraction, LiDAR experience.
• 6–10+ years of relevant experience.
• LSIT/GISP or advanced survey-related technology skill (3D Scanning, UAV/UAS, etc.) preferred.
• Proficiency in survey calculations, regulations, and deliverables.
• Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software.

Mark Thomas is growing and adding a Survey Specialist to our Survey and Mapping Division! The Survey Specialist I is an experienced and specialized survey professional that focuses on executing and producing project deliverables on multiple client projects. The Survey Specialist I may also perform more specialized field tasks and is afforded the opportunity to provide technical and specialized training and mentorship to more junior survey team members. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs work/tasks on a variety of survey projects; produces assigned project deliverables
• Assists in writing scope and estimates for projects
• Coordinates review and submittal of survey deliverables with the appropriate agency/client
• Communicates often and clearly with project team including office, field, subconsultants, internal clients and external clients
• Performs quality checks on works performed by team and subconsultants on a regular basis per company QMP
• Performs specialized field work as appropriate
• Analyzes/processes survey data and prepares deliverables for the clients from the data assessment; communicates the results of the data analysis to manager and project team members as appropriate
• Attends and actively participates in training and mentoring activities that contribute to the development of staff
• Seeks opportunities to contribute to the achievement of Mark Thomas goals

QUALIFICATIONS

• An associates or bachelor's degree in a survey-related field preferred
• Must have Microstatio, TopoDOT, Scan extraction, LiDAR experience
• 6-10+ years of relevant experience
• LSIT/GISP or advanced survey-related technology skill (3D Scanning, UAV/UAS, etc.) preferred
• Proficiency in one or more of the following:
• Survey calculations, principles, terms, and deliverables
• Survey regulations, laws, and boundary resolution
• Survey technology and deliverables (such as SUE, MTLS etc.)
• Construction support and calculations
• GIS
• Other Geospatial Specialty
• Possesses/demonstrates basic project management skills with respect to deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality
• Proficient in MS workplace-related software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
• Working knowledge of survey drafting software, such as Civil3D, MicroStation, TopoDOT, InRoads etc.
• Working knowledge of survey processing software such as Trimble Business Center
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients and partners
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage time and project tasks efficiently
• Willingness and initiative to learn new programs, systems, and tools as they become available
• Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
• For Survey Specialists who are required to drive to perform their work, possession of a valid driver's license

The offered base rate of compensation (California locations only) is based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
