Job summary

Houston Engineering Inc. in Fargo, ND seeks a Survey Technician to support a wide range of civil engineering projects with a mix of office and field work.

You will perform boundary surveys, preliminary surveys for civil design, construction staking and as-built surveys, with travel across the region.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, an AA in a related field preferred, good math and computer skills, and the ability to lift 50–75 pounds and work outdoors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• AA degree in Engineering Technology or Land Surveying preferred.
• Above average math skills and strong computer/technical skills.
• Strong communications skills with coworkers and contractors.
• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds.
• Daily activity involves standing, walking and pounding hubs.
• Trimble survey equipment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various jobsites to obtain necessary survey data.
• Gather field survey data to determine precise locations, elevations, and contours.
• Process survey data in compliance with regulations and standards.
• Perform simple surveying calculations, deed research, and map checks.
• Prepare accurate survey plats, drawings, and legal descriptions.
• Ensure schedules and productivity objectives are met by the Crew Chief.
