Job summary

Nobis Group is seeking a Survey Project Manager to oversee land surveying projects from initiation to completion. You will lead project teams, coordinate field crews, and manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Responsibilities include developing proposals and scopes, mentoring junior staff, ensuring safety and compliance, and presenting findings to management. A Licensed Professional Land Surveyor license is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in surveying or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10+ years of leading surveying projects.
  • Licensed/Professional Land Surveyor license required in applicable state.
  • Ability to read and interpret survey documents, specs, and SOPs.
  • Strong algebra, geometry, survey calculations and data review abilities.

  • Serve as primary client contact, provide updates and address questions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage proposals, scopes, work plans, schedules, staffing, budgets, QC reviews, and reports.
  • Train and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and manage survey teams to follow protocols and timelines.
  • Develop survey methodologies; analyze data; present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Conduct field surveys safely in varied weather and site conditions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SURVEY PROJECT MANAGER SUMMARY

The Survey Project Manager oversees land surveying projects from initiation through completion. This role leads project teams across one or more business units; coordinates field crews; manages schedules, budgets, and deliverables; ensures the accuracy of survey data; conducts research; and maintains compliance with industry standards and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely updates and addressing questions or concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage proposals, project scopes, work plans, schedules, staffing assignments, budgets, quality-control reviews, reports, and project documentation.
  • Train and mentor junior staff while supporting compliance with ethical standards, industry requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, manage survey teams, and ensure survey activities follow established protocols and timelines.
  • Develop and implement survey methodologies; analyze survey data; and present findings, recommendations, and project updates to management.
  • Conduct field surveys safely and professionally in a variety of weather and site conditions.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A degree in Survey Engineering Technology, Land Survey Technology, civil technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience."
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) or more years of experience leading and delivering surveying projects is required.
  • A Licensed/Professional Land Surveyor (LLS/PLS/PS) license is required in the applicable state.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret survey-related documents, manuals, specifications, safety procedures, and SOPs.
  • Strong algebra, geometry, survey calculation, accuracy/error-checking, and numerical data review skills tied to deliverables, budgets, schedules, and project decision-making.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Additional Survey or Civil Technology coursework.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to outside weather conditions at project sites or properties. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper health and safety provisions will be provided in accordance with OSHA requirements. Position’s eligible for a hybrid work schedule will be dependent upon management approval & workload, however on-site office work will be required.??

Will be required to work long hours on occasions, depending on business need. Significant travel required in the performance of work responsibilities and representing Nobis at various professional and association meetings.

ADA physical and environmental factors:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods over uneven terrain.
  • Lifting and carrying surveying equipment.
  • Bending, kneeling and reaching; and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Office duties require prolonged sitting or standing and use of a computer and printer(s).
