You’ll be the go‑to technical guru and mentor for our existing office and field teams, helping to level up the entire Chicago surveying group, from expanding our client base to building our tech stack and capabilities.

You’ll work under a senior professional land surveyor who brings a large national presence in the land surveying/geospatial industry. This mentorship is invaluable for a surveyor who wants to grow their career on both a personal and national level here at CEC.

Responsibilities

• Tech & Quality Champion – Be the final word on technical excellence, ensuring our work is top‑tier by running QA/QC and setting the gold standard for office and field procedures.
• Mentor & Team Builder – Help staff grow their careers through hands‑on mentoring and training, and lead recruiting the next generation of surveyors.
• Project Leadership – Take the reins on projects from start to finish, including crafting proposals, keeping project budgets on track, and managing the finances.

Tools You Bring

• 8+ years of real‑world surveying experience.
• Professional Land Surveyor registration (PLS) or the ability to obtain licensure with an S.I.T.
• Fluency in the latest surveying technology, principles, and techniques.
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of a project, from the initial bid to the final invoice.
• Leadership ability to mentor a team and marketing and networking skills to help the practice expand.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional surveying experience.
• Professional Land Surveyor registration (PLS) or ability to obtain licensure with S.I.T.
• Knowledge of technological advances, principles, techniques and practices of land surveying.
• Experience with survey project management, including preparation of proposals, tracking project budgets, and billing review.
• Ability to speak and write professionally.
• Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to staff in the survey practice.
• Ability to assist in growth of the survey practice using marketing and networking techniques.

Compensation & Benefits

The posting range for this position is between $84,456 - $154,494 based on experience and location. In addition, CEC offers overtime pay and other great benefits.
