Job Title: Survey Project Manager
Position Overview

The Survey Department Manager leads and manages survey operations in the Grand Rapids office, overseeing a team responsible for delivering a wide range of surveying projects. This role focuses on team leadership, project delivery, client relationships, and financial performance while supporting the continued growth of the department.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage survey staff, fostering a collaborative team environment and supporting professional development
  • Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining relationships and identifying new opportunities
  • Manage project scope, schedules, contracts, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate field and office teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, billing, and profitability
  • Support strategic planning and contribute to department growth initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or related field
  • Licensed Professional Surveyor (or ability to obtain licensure in Michigan)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying, including leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, technologies, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and modern survey equipment (GPS/GNSS, total stations)
  • Proven leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory motor vehicle record
