Position will serve as Survey Party Chief in the Smithfield Resident’s Office.

Responsibilities

• Your work will include performing survey work on complex construction projects, supervising survey crews and lower-level technicians, making independent decisions, and communicating effectively with co-workers, contractor's personnel, and the general public.
• You will be responsible for reviewing the contractor’s survey submittals and providing checks of their construction layouts in the field.
• You must have the ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
• This role involves exposure to environmental hazards, confined spaces, and may require work at night and on weekends. Safety Toe Shoes are required.

Qualifications

• Experience using surveying equipment, instruments, levels, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
• Experience with mathematical functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Experience in highway construction stakeouts.
• Experience conducting independent, moderately complex surveying.
• Computer skills including office and drafting software.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an accredited institution and seven years of progressive technician experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
