Job summary

Sundt Construction is seeking a skilled field surveyor to coordinate field work, manage crews, and perform all phases of construction staking on site in Texas. The role requires strong communication and a NICET certification, with responsibilities including field book organization, layout calculations, and GPS/equipment handling.

As a key team member, you will supervise crew performance, ensure safety standards, and collaborate with the survey manager to optimize project scheduling and delivery.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for coordination of field work and field personnel, note reduction, and computations for jobs. Perform all phases of construction staking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordination of field work and field personnel. This person must have the ability to make decisions based on the needs of the project.
  • In charge of survey crew, establishes and communicates performance of crew.
  • May supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on the job training.
  • Organization of field books and notes.
  • Perform all phases of construction layout and Revit model interaction.
  • Provides feedback to survey manager for scheduling of projects and crew.
  • Responsible for all calculations needed, i.e. layout, quantities, etc.
  • Understanding the G.P.S. and equipment use for survey.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • 5 years field experience in layout.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • NICET certification.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day
  • Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
