HMB’s Survey Department in Frankfort/Lexington, KY is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief with strong leadership to oversee field crews on roadway, bridge, and flood control projects. You’ll set up survey equipment and ensure data quality across GPS, conventional surveys, and Terrestrial LiDAR methods.

The role requires leadership skills, field safety proficiency, and the ability to travel to various field sites while coordinating tasks and training staff.

Qualifications

• Two years of crew chief experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills for field crew.
• Ability to carry and lift survey equipment on project sites.
• Willingness and ability to travel to field locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of field survey crew members
• Instruct and train crew members in survey methods, equipment usage, and field safety
• Gather field data using GPS, conventional surveying, and Terrestrial LiDAR scanning
• Set up and operate surveying equipment including total stations, data collectors, GPS, and LiDAR scanner
• Prepare field notes and drawings
• Perform field surveying for roadways, bridges, and flood control projects, including stakeouts and control establishment

HMB's Survey Department in Frankfort/Lexington, KY is HIRING! If you're an experienced Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief with strong leadership capabilities, this could be your opportunity!

Key Responsibilities

• Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of field survey crew members
• Instruct and train crew members in survey methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures
• Gather field survey data through the use of conventional, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Terrestrial LiDAR Scanning methods
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including a total station, data collector, GPS equipment and a terrestrial LiDAR scanner.
• Prepare field notes and drawings
• Perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including survey construction stake out, locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control for right of ways and boundaries and level runs to establish benchmarks.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Two (2) years of crew chief experience
• Good communication skills with the ability to manage and organize a field crew
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use)
• Knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types for different work situations
• Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required
• Ability to travel
