Job summary

Mannik Smith Group in Lexington, KY is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead a field crew on roadway, bridge, and flood control projects. You will set up, calibrate, and operate complex survey equipment, collect data, and ensure accurate field notes and drawings. Travel to project sites is required.

Ideal candidates will have two years as a crew chief, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage safety and workflow on diverse surveying assignments.

HMB's Survey Department in Frankfort/Lexington, KY is HIRING! If you're an experienced Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief with strong leadership capabilities, this could be your opportunity!

Key Responsibilities

• Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of field survey crew members
• Instruct and train crew members in survey methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures
• Gather field survey data through the use of conventional, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Terrestrial LiDAR Scanning methods
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including a total station, data collector, GPS equipment and a terrestrial LiDAR scanner.
• Prepare field notes and drawings
• Perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including survey construction stake out, locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control for right of ways and boundaries and level runs to establish benchmarks.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Two (2) years of crew chief experience
• Good communication skills with the ability to manage and organize a field crew
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use)
• Knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types for different work situations
• Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required
• Ability to travel
