Job summary

HMB's Survey Department in Frankfort/Lexington, KY seeks an experienced Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief with strong leadership capabilities. You will assign tasks, train crew members, and oversee field data collection using conventional methods, GPS, and Terrestrial LiDAR scanning.

Responsibilities include operating survey equipment, preparing field notes, and performing stakeouts for roadways and structures while ensuring safety and accuracy. The role requires travel and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of crew chief experience.
• Good communication skills with the ability to manage and organize a field crew.
• Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
• Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use).
• Knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types for different work situations.
• Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of field survey crew members.
• Instruct and train crew members in survey methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
• Gather field survey data through the use of conventional, GPS and Terrestrial LiDAR Scanning methods.
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including a total station, data collector, GPS equipment and a terrestrial LiDAR scanner.
• Prepare field notes and drawings.
• Perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including survey construction stake out, locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control for right of ways and boundaries and level runs to establish benchmarks.
