Responsibilities

  • Assist operations with setup and maintenance of survey instruments and GPS systems
  • Coordinate with project teams to align activities with design requirements
  • Schedule and order survey materials and equipment to support timelines

Job description

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (CWR) is seeking an experienced heavy civil construction survey professional for our Pensacola operations. The Survey Manager will oversee construction surveying and layout activities, including field operations, construction stakeout, GPS modeling, survey data, and survey crew supervision.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of survey computations, survey methods, construction layout, and field operations.
  • Supervises survey crew members performing construction stakeout and topographic, boundary, construction, and utility surveys.
  • Prepares construction layout files and 3D models for quantity, survey, GPS modeling, and machine control applications.
  • Reads and interprets construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Maintains the accuracy and quality of field measurements, calculations, and survey data.
  • Records, reviews, and maintains accurate field data and documentation.
  • Analyzes and verifies measurements and calculations for accuracy.
  • Builds GPS models for equipment machine control and operates field GPS equipment.
  • Assists operations with the setup, use, and maintenance of survey instruments, GPS equipment, controllers, and machine control systems.
  • Works closely with project and field teams to ensure construction activities align with design requirements.
  • Schedules and orders survey materials and equipment to support project timelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction surveying experience, including FDOT stakeout experience.
  • Land Surveyor License preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • Proficiency with Trimble equipment/software, GPS rovers, CADD software, machine control, and GPS modeling; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction surveying, layout, survey methods, and ALTA standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work days, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and ability to meet company MVR requirements.
  • Employer conducts drug screening and background check.
