Actalent in Glen Allen, VA is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to perform land surveying tasks across roads, bridges, and building sites, operating data collectors, levels, and GPS.
Travel across Virginia and surrounding states is expected, with overtime and per diem; this onsite role offers benefits including vision, dental, life insurance and 401k matching. Base responsibilities include leading the crew when needed and adhering to safety rules.
The Survey Instrument Operator will conduct a variety of surveying assignments and assist the Survey Party Chief in performing land surveys of roads, bridges, and building sites. The operator is responsible for establishing and re-establishing lines for construction stakeout surveys, easements, and property lines. Additionally, the operator will recover property corners and set traverse control points for boundary surveys, as well as set and mark stakes for construction stakeout projects. In the absence of the Survey Party Chief, the operator will direct the survey party. Responsibilities also include setting up and operating survey equipment such as data collectors, levels, and GPS, and performing all aspects of stakeout and location surveys using appropriate survey equipment.
The role requires willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Virginia and surrounding states, with the expectation of working overtime as needed. Travel will include periods away from home during the week, with provided per diem and lodging.
This is a Permanent position based out of Glen Allen, VA.
The pay range for this position is $36920.00 - $41600.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
This is a fully onsite position in Glen Allen, VA.
This position is anticipated to close on Sep 1, 2026.
