Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. in Frederick, MD is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to support field survey activities and instrument setup. You will assist the survey crew chief with data collection, line‑of‑sight readings, and related field tasks.

The role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain required certifications. Pre‑employment drug screening and background checks may be required as part of the hiring process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.

  • Assist survey crew chief with chaining and measuring, setting forward stationing, data collection and photographs of the survey as directed.
  • Provide instrument work with plumb bob or prism rod; clears brush and small limbs as necessary to obtain line-of-sight readings.
  • Unloads and deploys equipment and materials, including set-up and break-down.
  • Responsible for equipment care, cleaning, and general maintenance.
  • Assist with office survey duties including data entry, filing, copying, record-keeping and file maintenance for survey records.
  • Ensures consumables such as stakes, nails, flagging, monuments or marker paint are stocked.
