Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. is seeking a Survey Field Technician I to join our Charlotte, NC team. The role involves loading and unloading field gear, cutting lines with a brush axe, and using a level rod to obtain elevations. You will also hold prism poles for horizontal positioning and walk extensively across diverse terrains.

Overnight travel may be required. Candidates should have a High School diploma, be able to lift 50 pounds, and travel daily. CDL is a plus, and pre-employment screenings apply.

OVERVIEW

A Survey Field Technician I loads and unloads equipment from truck and carries equipment to the job site; cuts line with brush axe; runs a level rod to obtain elevations; holds prism pole for horizontal positions. The job requires considerable walking for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, uneven ground and sometimes water.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:

• Load and unload equipment from truck and carry equipment.
• Cut line with brush axe.
• Run level rod to obtain elevations.
• Hold prism pole for horizontal positions.
• Requires a lot of walking for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, uneven ground and sometimes water.
• Some overnight travel may be required.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• High School/GED or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, carry, and operate equipment as needed on the project.
• Ability to travel daily. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Work 50+ hours during busy periods.
• Can work unsupervised when required.
• Walking outdoors for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, including urban, suburban, and rural locations, and working under adverse conditions (heat, cold, hills, swamps, wildlife & insects, high traffic areas).
• Experience is welcomed, willing to train.
• Current Commercial Driver's License is a plus.
• Background & motor vehicle checks, and pre-employment drug screening are conditions of employment.
