Job summary

Legacy Engineering, a Fredericksburg-based civil engineering firm, seeks a Field Survey Technician to support survey operations in the field. You will assist Survey Party Chiefs, learn robot, drone and GPS equipment, and help interpret engineering plans on-site.

The role emphasizes reliability, safety with PPE, and strong teamwork. Candidates should be able to work outdoors, multi-task, and contribute to a collaborative project environment.

We are seeking a highly motivated team player to join our team! If you are enthusiastic about land surveying & civil engineering and eager to be challenged, we have an opening for a Field Survey Technician .

Key Responsibilities

• Assist and work with Survey Party Chiefs in the field


• Become familiar with Survey grade instruments such as robots, drones and GPS


• Reading maps, following directions, and interpreting engineering and construction plans


• Observing and documenting field activities


• Other duties may be assigned

Skills, Knowledge, Expertise

• No experience necessary.


• Must be willing to work 8+ hours per day outside in various elements


• Willing to wear provided PPE and take instruction from Survey Party Chiefs


• Possess quality and focused skills in problem solving, analytical and critical thinking as well as having interpersonal and people skills to work in a team environment


• Able to multi-task and prioritize work

The compensation range for this position is $18 to $20 /hourly, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
