Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry in Oregon seeks a permanent full-time Survey Crew Leader to lead field surveys and mentor a small crew. You will operate Trimble RTK/GPS, record field notes, and ensure data quality.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in surveying, a valid driver's license, and a commitment to safety. A degree in Land Surveying is preferred, LSIT/PLS exam readiness encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Operate survey equipment (Trimble RTK, GPS, laser scanners).
  • Maintain clear, accurate field notes and maps.
  • Supervise and mentor field crew, lead a 1–2 person crew.
  • Collect data for boundary, topo, industrial, and construction surveys.
  • Conduct QC by reviewing final maps and ensuring accuracy.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate a variety of survey equipment, including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, GPS, laser scanners, and TSC5 data collectors.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and professional field notes.
  • Supervise and mentor field crew personnel and lead a one- to two-person crew.
  • Collect data for boundary, topographic, industrial, and construction surveys.
  • Conduct quality control by reviewing final maps and ensuring accuracy.
  • Continuously pursue professional development to expand knowledge, resolve boundary issues, and prepare for LSIT/PLS exams.
Who You Are
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ relevant experience as a Survey Crew Leader, with demonstrated growth in responsibilities preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly
  • Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards in the field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
  • Associate’s or Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or a related field.
  • Land Survey Intern (LSI) certification.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Solid mathematical background with a practical understanding of surveying calculations.
