Job summary

WESTLAKE CONSULTANTS INC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations in our Industrial Measurement Division (IMD). You will mentor staff while delivering on diverse projects across high-tech, manufacturing, and marine sectors.

You’ll coordinate field activities, ensure safety, and train Instrument Operator teams. This role requires strong surveying skills, QA discipline, and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as Instrument Technician or field data collection support.
• Strong geometry, calculations, and as-built surveying abilities.
• Careful QA procedures and legible note-keeping required.
• Experience with survey instruments, data collectors, electronic levels, and 3D scanners helpful.
• Must be able to travel within the United States and/or overseas.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field work for multiple projects, including high profile ones.
• Maintain safety standards and site safety protocols.
• Lead and train Instrument Operator team members in IMD.

Job Summary

We are seeking Survey Crew Chiefs to join our specialty Industrial Measurement Division (IMD). This team performs state-of-the-art industrial surveying for an array of diverse clients from high-tech, manufacturing and fabrication facilities to the marine industry.

As a Crew Chief, you will mentor other IMD staff while working on a variety of challenging projects. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute at a high level within a company culture that supports work / life balance.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Coordination of field work for a variety of projects, including high profile and confidential projects.
• Maintaining safety standards and site safety protocol.
• Leadership and training of Instrument Operator team members within the IMD department.
• Communicating with Client and Contractor field management.
• Coordination of field data files (electronic and hard copy).

Job Type: Full-time, at client worksite

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of experience as an Instrument Technician, field procedures for data collection, and crew support.
• Intermediate skills in construction layout, calculations, and as-built surveying;
• Intermediate skills using survey equipment and software including survey instruments, data collectors, electronic levels, and 3D scanners;
• Demonstrated history of careful implementation of QA procedures;
• Detailed and legible note-keeping techniques;
• A genuine aptitude for geometry, problem-solving, and prior experience in precise surveying / measurement would be of great value. Some experience with AutoCAD would be valuable;
• Ability to be badged for work in sensitive/restricted areas (i.e., drug testing, background screening);
• A valid driver’s license (a valid state-issued license is required at time of hire);
• Ability to work extended hours (schedule occasionally requires 10-hour shift and/or Saturday work);
• Availability for travel within the United States and/or overseas
