Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join the Survey Geospatial Team. You will oversee day-to-day field activities supporting critical transportation projects, ensuring accuracy and strong team coordination.

This role demands leadership, practical problem‑solving, and a hands-on approach in outdoor environments. You will guide field crews, review plans, and ensure safe, efficient operations while fostering collaboration with engineers and project teams across Norwell, MA;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree and/or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience required.
• Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills; represent the firm professionally.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license required with the ability to travel short-term.
• NSPS CST Level II certification preferred; LSIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and well‑coordinated field operations.
• Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys using total stations, data collectors, and GPS.
• Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to plan and execute surveying projects and set task goals.
• Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout.

What You'll Do:

• Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and wellcoordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
• Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS

Salary Range:

$32.00 - $40.00

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
