Job summary

ESP Associates is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Huntersville, NC team. This role leads field surveys, boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS work using traditional, robotic, and GPS tools, coordinating crews and ensuring accuracy.

The successful candidate has 5+ years in land surveying, an associate degree in surveying/geomatics preferred, and the ability to travel for projects with lodging provided. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in land surveying

• SIT or PLS preferred but not required
• Knowledge of Excel, navigational programs, CADD, Trimble Business Center preferred
• Experience with Trimble data collection, GPS receivers and robotic total stations preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead field crews on land surveying projects using conventional, robotic, and GPS equipment.
• Ensure accuracy in field measurements, data collection, and documentation.

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for performing survey field operations, including boundary, topographic, construction layout, ALTA/NSPS, and existing conditions surveys, utilizing conventional, robotic, and GPS equipment. This is an opportunity for an experienced SUE professional who is already coordinating projects to further their career within a dynamic and growing Engineering, Surveying and Planning firm.

Responsibilities:

• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate field operations and supervise survey crews effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field crews on a variety of land surveying projects utilizing conventional, robotic, and GPS equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in field measurements, data collection, and documentation.
• Willingness to travel out of town for project assignments, with lodging and meal per diem provided.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding fieldwork as required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in land surveying, preferred
• Associate’s degree in surveying/geomatics, civil engineering or related field preferred
• SIT or PLS preferred but not required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, navigational programs, CADD programs and Trimble Business Center preferred
• Experience with Trimble data collection, GPS receivers and robotic total stations considered a plus
• DOT and route survey experience considered a plus
• Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
