Job summary

R. Joe Harris & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field crews on land development and civil site projects.

You will oversee boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys, plan methods, and ensure accurate data collection and documentation. The role requires hands-on experience with total stations, GPS, and surveying instruments, along with strong leadership to mentor junior crew members.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a survey crew chief or instrument operator.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS, and surveying instruments.
• Ability to lead and motivate field crews.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage survey crews in the field to complete boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
• Plan and organize survey activities, determining the best methods, procedures, and equipment for each project.
• Operate and oversee the use of total stations, GPS, and other instruments.
• Collect accurate field data and ensure proper documentation for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, and team members to meet project requirements.
• Maintain safety standards and compliance on all job sites.
• Keep thorough field notes, records, and project documentation.
• Mentor and train junior crew members, supporting their professional growth.
• Stay current on new technologies, industry trends, and regulations.

What We're Looking For
