Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Crew Chief for our Survey team in College Station, TX. You will lead field crews performing terrestrial and boundary surveys, construction stakeouts, and as-built surveys for residential and commercial properties.

Our team utilizes hi-definition laser scanners and total stations, GNSS, and data collectors to gather precise data. You will mentor staff, ensure safety SOPs are followed, and collaborate with project supervisors and clients to deliver

Qualifications

• Experience leading survey crews or coordinating field teams.
• Proficiency with data collectors, robotic instruments, total stations, and leveling.
• Ability to perform field surveys and document field notes accurately.

Responsibilities

• Lead one, two, or three-person survey crews.
• Perform design, boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Plan and perform field surveys within scope and budget.
• Supervise and direct other crew members in the field.
• Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate field notes and daily activity reports.
• Perform in-field calculations for stakeout and land surveys.
• Review data for validity and prepare cut sheets as needed.
• Mentor field staff to facilitate advancement.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Crew Chief to join our growing Survey team in College Station, TX.

Our professionals perform terrestrial and boundary surveys, construction stakeouts and as-built surveys for existing and new residential and commercial properties. Our capabilities also include the use of hi-definition laser scanners which enable our surveyors to collect data from a multitude of subjects including complex facilities, buildings and assets, bridges, structures, and roadways all of which depend upon our specialized measurement equipment and experienced operators.

Responsibilities

• This position may include work as a leader of one, two or three-person crews.
• Survey projects include design surveys, right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, aerial ground control, boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Plan and perform an increased variety of field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
• May supervise and direct other survey crew members.
• Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
• Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with moderate assistance from office support team.
• Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments as needed. Review and determine the validity of data collection.
• Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and developing solutions to issues encountered on projects.
• Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
• Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
• Adhere to corporate and client Health and Safety program(s) and all applicable SOPs.
• Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
• Use and instruct others to properly use Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS, and other specialized survey equipment to collect data.
• Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily.
• Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
• Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling
