Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a SurveyCrew Chief to lead field surveying teams, process field notes, draft maps, and prepare final surveys under supervision for approval by a Registered Land Surveyor.

The role involves mentoring crew members, traveling to job sites, and ensuring data accuracy across projects with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, or equivalent with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Skilled in the use and maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, data collectors, level rods).
  • Experienced in boundary and topographic surveys with ability to read/interpret construction and property documents.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and lead others in the field.
  • Ability to read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans.
  • Knowledge of field surveying practices; valid driver’s license and driving record.
  • Willingness to travel and work varying schedules; occasional overnight stays.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in rough terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project planning including pricing, planning, estimation, and task coordination.
  • Coordinate with Clients, Project Managers, Surveyors and stakeholders to provide accurate data.
  • Perform field surveying and ensure data accuracy collected by field crew.
  • Carry out moderately complex field calculations for roadways and boundary lines.
  • Prepare grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, and corner records.
  • Review field data and reports for QA and provide feedback to the team.
  • Conduct site visits ensuring QC standards are followed.
  • Research records/maps/ deeds and maintain field data records.

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a SurveyCrew Chief that assists in briefing and debriefing field crews,processing field notes and data, retracing or surveying property boundaries,writing reports, drafting maps, and preparing final surveys under minimalsupervision for approval by a Registered Land Surveyor. Additionally, thisposition directly leads and mentors others while engaged in field surveyingwork.

Responsibilities
  • Assistin performing a subset of tasks for project planning including pricing,planning, estimation, and coordination of tasks for a project.
  • Contactand communicate with Clients, Project Managers, Surveyors, Geomaticist,Managers, and other stakeholders providing accurate data.
  • Performfield surveying for various projects and ensure accuracy of data collectedby the field crew.
  • Performmoderately complex field calculations (such as calculating horizontal andvertical geometry of roadways or for construction stake outs), determineproperty boundaries, retrace and survey boundary lines.
  • Preparefinished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, cornerrecords, and other survey reports.
  • Reviewfield data, reports, and maps to ensure proper QA techniques, providefeedback and coaching back to project team.
  • Conductsite visits ensuring proper QC standards are followed.
  • Researchexisting record information, including record maps, plans, deeds,easements, and right-of-way documents, and ensure maintenance of fielddata records.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Two-yeardegree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, orequivalent with 7 years of relevant experience, or other relevantcombination of education and/or experience
  • Skilledin the use of maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, datacollectors, level rods, etc.)
  • Experiencedin all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographicsurveys, construction staking, etc. with the ability to read and interpretvarious types of construction and property documents
  • Abilityto effectively instruct, direct, and lead others in the field
  • Abilityto read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans
  • Knowledgeof field surveying practices and procedures; building knowledge of officesurveying practices and proceduresValiddriver's license and sufficient driving record
  • Abilityto work varying schedules
  • Abilityto travel at times and overnight
  • Daily work environment includes working out of doors and inrough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, and stand while operating variousequipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, orlift up to 50 lbs. Individuals may need to climb to various elevations andrequires visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/numeric symbols and performcomputation and design.
