McKim & Creed, Inc. seeks a field survey crew chief to oversee operations in the Charlottesville, VA region. You will lead field teams performing topographic, boundary, and construction staking, ALTA, and as-built tasks, while ensuring safety and data quality.

The role requires organizing field work, maintaining equipment, and delivering accurate field data to the office. Overnight travel may be required, and proficiency with survey tools is essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
• High school diploma or GED required.

OVERVIEW

This person is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. Perform Land Surveying - Topographic, Boundary, Construction Staking, ALTA, As-Built. Organize field work, direct crew members, maintain a safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locating features, deliver data to the office, maintain accurate records of work and expenses. Will work primarily in the greater Charlottesville VA area.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief
• Experienced performing Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying for Civil Site Land Development.
• Good technical skills: behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
• Some overnight travel may be required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL:

• Be responsible for the operation of field survey crews working primarily on projects in central Virginia (Norfolk).
