Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveying activities in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

The role focuses on boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys, using robotic total stations and GPS/GNSS tools to deliver accurate data and robust project documentation. You will manage field operations, ensure safety, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with project teams across multiple industries.

Formación

• 5+ years of survey crew chief experience.
• Ability to train and mentor survey technicians and field crew.
• Knowledge of land surveying principles and standards.
• Familiarity with civil engineering principles and construction specs.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and oversee daily survey field operations while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.

This role offers the opportunity to lead field surveying activities on a variety of projects throughout the region while working with advanced survey technology and supporting successful project delivery across multiple industries.

Our Bridgeport office is one of the region's largest multidisciplinary engineering offices, bringing together more than 130 engineers, scientists, surveyors, and technical professionals. As part of our survey team, you'll collaborate with office and field staff while supporting boundary, topographic, construction, and infrastructure projects throughout West Virginia and the surrounding region.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily survey field operations while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met


• Perform and manage boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, route surveys, photo control surveys, and construction stakeout projects


• Operate robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, data collectors, and other modern survey equipment


• Collect, document, and verify field data to support accurate project deliverables


• Maintain detailed field notes, sketches, diagrams, and survey records


• Coordinate with project managers, professional surveyors, engineers, contractors, and clients to support project objectives


• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to survey technicians and field crew members


• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, standard operating practices, and project requirements


• Perform routine maintenance and care of survey equipment, instruments, and survey vehicles


• Assist with field problem-solving and quality control to ensure accurate and timely completion of survey projects

• 5+ years' survey crew chief experience;


• Skilled in the use of GPS devices, data collectors and/or Total Station;


• Work requires independent judgment and initiative;


• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying;


• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instruments used in computer aided drafting;


• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans, and regulations related to construction;


• Knowledge of industry specific safe workplace principles and practices;


• Ability to operate motorized equipment;


• Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions;


• Valid Driver's License.
