WHS (William H. Smith and Associates) in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a CAD Technician to join our Civil Engineering and Land Surveying team. You will use AutoCAD and Carlson to prepare drawings and support municipal, commercial, oil & gas projects.

Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years as a Draftsman and 5–8+ years with AutoCAD and Trimble software. A fast-paced environment and standard 7am–5pm hours apply, with potential overtime and field work as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years as a Draftsman in a land surveying, engineering firm.
• 5-8+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Trimble software.
• 5+ years of experience with Land Surveying in Oil & Gas.
• Experience working with Carlson, ArcGIS or Skyline Software is a plus but not required.
• Capable of working across Oil & Gas, Construction & Development, and Government projects.
• Excellent time management and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD and Carlson.
• Plan, organize, and schedule projects.
• Maintain and update drawings to standards; revisions as needed.
• Manage project folders and files to company standards.
• Review preliminary and final drawings by other CAD Techs.
• Analyze data from field records, plats, and other sources.
• Efficiently collect, process, and evaluate GPS data.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate with departments and clients to produce deliverables.
• Possible field work may be necessary.

WHS is seeking a highly motivated and talented CAD Technician to be part of our growing team based out of our Grand Junction, CO office.
Candidates should have prior experience in oil and gas design or drafting. Our Civil Engineering and Land Surveying team supports a wide range of public and private projects, providing expertise across municipal, commercial, oil and gas, and industrial sectors. Essential Duties:

• Utilize latest AutoCAD and/or Carlson software to prepare drawings
• Project planning, organization, and scheduling
• Execute requested drawing maintenance, standards, updating, revisions, etc.
• Manage the course of projects, research records and produce reports for Project Managers and Clients
• Ability to manage project folders and files to company standards
• Review preliminary and final drawings prepared by other CAD Techs
• Analyze and interpret data from multiple sources, including field data, plats, and other records
• Efficiently collect, process, and evaluate GPS data
• Work proficiently on various projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate with various departments, including direct contact with clients to produce deliverables
• Possible field work may be necessary

• 5+ years of experience with Land Surveying in Oil & Gas
• Experience working with Carlson, ArcGIS or Skyline Software a plus but not required
• Requires the capability of working within a variety of industries including but not limited to: Oil & Gas, Construction & Development, and Government related projects
• Must have excellent time management skills, be able to work within and meet project deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Additional time may be required at night or over the weekend depending on project deadlines.

  For Colorado residents: The pay range for this position is $25.00-30.00 per hour (with flexibility DOQ). The range displayed on this job posting reflects salaries for the position based in our Colorado location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by specific work location and additional factors, including education, experience, credentials, and job-related skills.
