Job summary

HWC Engineering is seeking a CAD Technician in Indianapolis to support our survey team. You will produce detailed drawings, maps, and plans from survey data using CAD software and help prepare boundary and topographic surveys, along with construction staking plans.

The role reports in-office at our Indianapolis office and requires experience in surveying or civil engineering environments, with strong detail orientation and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Design Technology/CAD preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret survey data and specifications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with surveyors, engineers, and other team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge of land surveying principles is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create detailed drawings, maps, and plans based on survey data and specifications provided by the surveying team.
• Assist in the preparation of surveying documents including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking plans.
• Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and plans.
• Calculate points and export alignments, surfaces, and DXF for construction staking.
• Interpret survey data, sketches, and field notes to accurately depict land features, boundaries, and structures.
• Maintain organized records of drawings and project files for future reference and revisions.
• Conduct quality control checks on drawings to ensure adherence to company standards and project requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of project deliverables and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on CAD software advancements and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Communicate regularly with field staff, project managers, and engineers.
• Work on several projects concurrently.
