Job description

Our team is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, and skilled CAD Technician to support our Survey team. The CAD Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our surveying team by utilizing CAD software to produce accurate and detailed drawings, maps, and plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD drafting and experience working in a surveying or civil engineering environment.

The position reports in-office at our Indianapolis office. WHAT YOU’LL DO
  1. Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create detailed drawings, maps, and plans based on survey data and specifications provided by the surveying team.
  2. Assist in the preparation of surveying documents including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking plans.
  3. Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and plans.
  4. Calculate points and export alignments, surfaces, and DXF for construction staking.
  5. Interpret survey data, sketches, and field notes to accurately depict land features, boundaries, and structures.
  6. Maintain organized records of drawings and project files for future reference and revisions.
  7. Conduct quality control checks on drawings to ensure adherence to company standards and project requirements.
  8. Assist in the preparation of project deliverables and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  9. Stay updated on CAD software advancements and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  10. Communicate regularly with field staff, project managers, and engineers.
  11. Work on several projects concurrently.
WHAT YOU NEED
  1. Associates Degree in Design Technology/CAD is a plus. Previous experience working in a surveying or civil engineering environment is required.
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel, and Word.
  3. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret survey data and specifications.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with surveyors, engineers, and other team members.
  5. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
  6. Knowledge of land surveying principles and practices is desirable.
