Job summary

Bowman Consulting seeks a Survey CAD Technician II to work remotely from Texas, assisting with project deliverables and contract documents per company standards.

You will learn and support senior staff in design tasks, convert data into accurate drawings, and perform boundary and stakeout computations across land development projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of survey and CAD experience in land development/land survey.
  • Knowledge of basic design concepts and technical calculations.
  • Surveyor-In-Training certificate preferred.
  • Relevant survey licensure a plus.
  • Proficiency in Carlson, Bentley Inroads/Geopak, Revit or similar software.

Job description

Short Description Bowman has an opportunity for a Survey CAD Technician II to join our team remotely in TX.

Purpose

Assist in the preparation of project deliverables and contract documents in accordance with the company design standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Receive direction on moderately complex assignments; work reviewed by senior staff for quality and technique. Review work of junior staff for quality assurance.
  • Work closely with senior staff to learn and assist in design work.
  • Under supervision, convert applicable information into electronically generated drawings and project documents with accuracy, neatness, and speed.
  • Perform horizontal computations for boundary surveys and analyze field location and record information to determine property lines.
  • Draft final house location surveys from field notes and personal measurements of building improvements.
  • Compute horizontal positions of planned buildings, streets, curbs, etc. for stakeouts.
  • Check record plats for completeness and accuracy prior to submission for review.
  • Submit plots to county for review.
  • Gain thorough knowledge of ALTA Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, residential and commercial construction stakeout procedures, and practices.
  • Perform a variety of complex computations for traverse, record plats, boundary surveys, construction stakeouts, horizontal control, etc.
  • May complete land development related surveys as well as boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and subdivision layout (traditional land development work).

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in survey, geography, architecture or civil engineering preferred. Relevant experience considered.
  • Three or more years of survey and/or CAD experience in the land development/land survey industry.
  • Knowledge of basic design concepts and technical calculations.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Surveyor‑In‑Training certificate preferred.
  • Relevant survey licensure a plus.
  • Proficiency in land surveying and/or surface modeling software such as Carlson, Bentley Inroads/Geopak, Revit, or similar civil engineering design software.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder
