Job summary

Maverickeng is seeking an experienced Survey CAD Technician to join its growing Survey Department in Midland, Texas. The ideal candidate will transform field survey data into accurate, professional drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, collaborating with RPLS, field crews, engineers, and project managers on diverse land development, municipal, commercial, and oil & gas projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in survey CAD drafting or a closely related surveying position.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of land surveying terminology, drafting practices, and survey deliverables.
  • Ability to read and interpret deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way, legal descriptions, and other property records.
  • Experience preparing survey plats, exhibits, and related documents from field survey data.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established project deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with surveyors, field crews, engineers, and project managers.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take responsibility for assignments and contribute to a growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, subdivision plats, construction staking plans, easements, rights-of-way, and as-built surveys.
  • Process and organize survey field data for use in preparation of survey drawings and exhibits.
  • Prepare accurate plats, exhibits, sketches, and other survey-related documents.
  • Read, interpret, and plot property legal descriptions, deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way, and other recorded documents.
  • Assist surveyors with boundary research and the preparation of boundary survey drawings.
  • Perform deed and plat plotting and assist with identifying potential boundary, easement, and right-of-way conflicts.
  • Coordinate survey information with civil engineering and land development plans.
  • Prepare construction staking exhibits and staking information based on engineering construction documents.
  • Maintain organized CAD files and follow established company drafting standards.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of drawings for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with survey field crews, project surveyors, engineers, and project managers to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information.
  • Assist with multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining project schedules and deadlines.
  • Projects may include residential subdivisions, commercial developments, municipal infrastructure, industrial facilities, oil and gas projects, roadway improvements, utility projects, and other land development assignments.

Job description

Survey CAD Technician

We are seeking an experienced Survey CAD Technician to join our growing Survey Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in survey drafting, be proficient in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, and have the ability to efficiently transform field survey data into accurate, professional survey drawings and deliverables.

This position will work closely with our Registered Professional Land Surveyors (RPLS), field crews, engineers, and project managers on a wide variety of land development, municipal, commercial, industrial, residential, and oil and gas projects.

Responsibilities

The Survey CAD Technician will be responsible for preparing and assisting with a variety of survey-related drawings and documents utilizing field-collected survey data, record information, and project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school degree, associate degree, or coursework in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD/Drafting, or a related field.
  • Experience with Civil 3D survey databases, surfaces, point management, alignments, and coordinate systems.
  • Experience working with subdivision plats and municipal development projects.
  • Familiarity with Texas surveying practices and land development projects.
  • Experience working with survey field data collected using GPS/GNSS and robotic total station equipment is a plus.
