Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform surveillance checks, collateral visits, victim contacts, and employment verifications to ensure probation compliance.

  • Monitor sobriety via approved tests like breath and urine analyses.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records of client contacts in CSTS.
  • Complete required safety training and carry safety equipment as directed.
  • Prepare case activity notes to support planning and court communications.
  • Attend work regularly and adhere to shift scheduling, including evenings and weekends.
  • Work as part of a team and with other agencies to support the client.
  • Travel to multiple county locations as needed; maintain professional relationships.

This position is responsible for the verification and monitoring of sobriety, victim contact, employment, residence, associations, and other issues significant to law-abiding behavior. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**These examples do not include all possible responsibilities in this position and do not limit the assignment of related duties to this classification.1. Assists with supervision of clients by performing surveillance checks, collateral visits, victim contacts, employment verifications, and scheduled/unscheduled visits to ensure compliance with probation terms.2. Collaborates with supervising agents to enhance public safety by enforcing law-abiding behavior and compliance with rules established by the court.3. Monitors abstinence of illegal substance and alcohol use through approved testing such as preliminary breath and urinalysis tests.4. Maintains timely records of contacts with clients by completing chronological entries in CSTS.5. Participates in team process of assigned program.6. Documents case activities to facilitate case planning and provide courts and releasing authorities with information required to make informed decisions.7. Follows safety protocols and carries issued safety equipment (Taser, Radio, OC spray, hand cuffs) at all times to assure safety of self and others.8. Maintains safety equipment at all times and regularly completes required training in use of equipment.9. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.10. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. **Minimum Qualifications** In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:* High School graduate or equivalent* Two years of post-secondary formal education in corrections, criminal justice, psychology, social work, sociology, or similar field and two years of related experience in corrections, education, human services, security, surveillance, or a similar public service field **OR** five years of related experience in corrections, education, human services, security, surveillance, or a similar public service field, **OR** a bachelor's degree in corrections, criminal justice, psychology, social work, sociology, or similar field* Valid Minnesota driver's license or the ability to obtain within 30 days* Reliable means of transportation to travel to multiple locations around Stearns County, some of which may not be accessible by public transportation* Experience using Microsoft Office Suite **Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**1. Knowledge of the criminal justice system.2. Knowledge of the treatment and supervision of criminal offenders.3. Knowledge of community corrections programs and operations.4. Knowledge of laws and ethics pertaining to data privacy.5. Ability to utilize interviewing techniques, including motivational interviewing.6. Ability to organize and prioritize work.7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.8. Ability to establish and maintain accurate records.9. Complies with all rules and policies to maintain a safe work environment. **Work Environment and Physical Demands.** The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 25% of the time indoors and approximately 75% of the time outdoors. Will require frequent travel to off-site locations. Will have limited exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low level of physical effort. All employees are required to reside within the state of Minnesota. **Responsibility for Public Contact** Frequent. **Extent of Supervision or Guidance Provided** Work is performed under the general supervision of the Human Services Supervisor. **Hours of Work** This position involves field type work out of the office approximately 75% of the time.
