POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring activities of the surveillance room on a day-to-day basis to ensure that guests or Team Members are not engaged in illegal activities, that all gaming and cash-handling activities are conducted in accordance with Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission regulations and the Company’s internal controls and procedures, and that assistance is given to security personnel to ensure the safety of the guests and team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:
- Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.
- Completes all reports and projects assigned by the Casino Shift Manager.
- Research, evaluate, and test surveillance technology and equipment to develop and maintain the most appropriate system to achieve security and maintain cost-efficiency.
- Coordinates surveillance investigation efforts with outside law enforcement agencies to assure proper handling of civil violations of patrons or Team Members; may occasionally appear in court with company attorneys to assist in criminal justice proceedings.
- Implements and monitors emergency procedures to ensure prompt and safe handling of such emergencies as fire, flood, or bomb or other threats.
- Works with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
- Endeavors to prevent and/or apprehend person engaged in cheating, theft, embezzlement and other illegal activity.
- Notifies department leaders, and where appropriate applicable gaming regulatory agencies, upon detection of illegal activities.
- Identifies and understands cheating and theft techniques in gaming and count room.
- Works with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
- Under the direction of the Director of Surveillance, notifies department leaders, and where appropriate, applicable gaming regulatory agencies, upon detection of illegal activities.
- Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as applicable.
- Promotes Responsible Gaming, AML and Title 31 compliance.
- Maintains constant awareness of the latest gaming and surveillance regulations.
- Maintains comprehensive industry familiarity with gaming practices. Works closely with other property key personnel in exchanging information on gaming and other activities as necessary and develops proper security measures to ensure the integrity of the operation.
- Reviews casino activities and property events and promotions with surveillance team members to ensure safety and compliance.
- Ensures that the surveillance team is trained and prepared to deliver the highest level of surveillance standards of operating procedures.
- Assists with staffing and work schedules to attain maximum efficiency of labor.
- Review activities in the gaming operation with the Director of Surveillance to gauge and maintain policies and procedures, proper pays, no underage illegal activity and safety to all are being adhered to.
- Responsible for making sure all paperwork is completed and reported in accordance with established compliance procedures.
- Always follows the Company Service Standards model.
- Assists in developing department standards, guidelines, and objectives.
- Assists in other administrative processes such as staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
- Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members.
- Addresses any situations that may arise among department employees.
- Reviews the work activities of subordinate employees to ensure that work is being performed within the standards established by management.
- Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
- Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must have ability to:
- Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests and outside contacts.

- Work in a closed, secure area near other Surveillance Team Members, typically in a dimly lit room with large monitors.
REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
- Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
- Obtain and maintain required license(s).
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
- Have knowledge of property programs to address problem gambling.
- Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
- Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Two (2) years prior surveillance experience in a gaming environment preferred. One (1) year supervisory and/or leadership experience in a gaming environment preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience with card counting and basic strategies preferred. Strong oral and written skills are required. Must be proficient with Microsoft applications and menu-driven programs. Knowledge of money handling procedures and experience preferred. Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.
