Job summary

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals, part of Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to provide high-quality technical support in surgical settings for equine and farm animal patients. You will collaborate with surgeons and the nursing team, assist in aseptic preparation, anesthesia induction, patient positioning, and postoperative care.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited program or equivalent experience, plus NY State Licensure or eligibility.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant OR experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
• Able to work with multiple large animal species including equine and bovine.
• Capable of thriving in fast-paced, detail-focused environments.
• Must meet physical demands including lifting and restraining animals."

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, imaging, and the surgical team to uphold high standards of patient care.
• Help manage daily surgical flow, prepare rooms with equipment, assist with inductions, positioning, clipping, and transport of patients.
• Assist surgeons, staff, and students with scheduled and emergency surgeries.
• Act as circulating technician during procedures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed.
• Ensure accurate entry of patient charges in the hospital information system.
