Job summary

First Coast Veterinary Specialists & Emergency in Jacksonville Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Service. This role supports surgical patients and collaborates with surgeons, with opportunities for advanced clinical growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience.
• Strong knowledge of restraint, venipuncture, phlebotomy, anesthesia monitoring, and related procedures.
• Excellent communication with clients and veterinary team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for surgical patients throughout perioperative period.
• Support veterinarians and surgeons with procedures and patient care.
• Perform CVT duties including patient assessment, restraint, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic procedures.
• Calculate and safely administer anesthetic agents.
• Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery; communicate changes to the medical team.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures.
• Prepare patients, equipment, medications for surgery; maintain clean surgical areas.
• Maintain accurate patient records and provide client updates as needed.
• Collaborate with hospital team to ensure a positive, respectful culture.
