Job summary

Greater Cincinnati Veterinary Specialists and Urgent Care in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Veterinary Surgery Nurse to support surgeons in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital. You will prepare patients, monitor anesthesia, and assist during approximately 5–6 surgeries daily while also handling emergencies.

Responsibilities include post-operative care, instrument management, and client communication. Must have RVT/LVT/CVT credentials or comparable surgical experience, with strong teamwork

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred (RVT/LVT/CVT).
• Minimum of 2 years anesthesia and surgical nursing experience.
• Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring and recovery.
• Ability to perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and advanced nursing skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under high pressure.

Responsibilities

• Surgical Support: assist during soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and emergency procedures.
• Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring: develop and implement anesthesia plans; monitor ECG, BP, SpO2, ETCO2; manage recovery.
• Post-Operative Care: provide intensive nursing care and educate clients on aftercare.
• Emergency Surgery Support: assist with urgent cases and on-call emergencies.
• Inventory and Equipment Management: maintain instruments, sterilize, and track supplies.
• Team Collaboration: work with surgeons, clinicians, technicians, and client service staff.
