Job summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners– Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Wheat Ridge, CO is hiring a surgery veterinary assistant. You will provide general nursing care, assist surgery technicians and doctors, and support patient care during procedures.

Four 10-hour shifts, pay $19–$23/hour based on experience; benefits include medical, CE allowance, PTO, 401k with match, and more. AVA Certification or enrollment in a veterinary program preferred; emphasize empathy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant with AVA Certification preferred.
• Confidence in surgery duties; students in veterinary programs considered.
• Empathy and commitment to patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up for various surgical procedures.
• Circulating and assisting in the operating room.
• Clean and disinfect surgical suites and pre-op area.
• Assist with radiographs, blood draws, catheter placement, anesthesia induction, and patient positioning.
• Set up anesthesia machines and monitor patient recovery.
• Sterilize instruments and organize surgery packs.
• Manage inventory and stock surgical supplies.
• Assist with bandage changes and patient admissions/discharges.
• Communicate with clients about appointments and check-ins.
