Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City, IA is hiring Patient Care Technicians for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) within the Medical-Surgical Services Division. The unit cares for surgical and trauma patients in a 48-bed setting, emphasizing teamwork and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include vital signs, basic procedures, admissions/transfers/discharges, hygiene, turning, and transporting patients and supplies under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Carry out medical asepsis during skills such as phlebotomy, IV removal, Foley care.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene.
• Turn, position and ambulate patients; transport patients and supplies.
• Assist with basic procedures and documentation as directed by nurses.
