Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room – Orthopedic Hospital in Wilmington. The role requires a minimum of 1 year Surgical Tech experience and the ability to assist in invasive procedures from 7am to 7pm on a full-time basis.

Education includes a High School Diploma or GED, with completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or Military Training (68D) preferred. Certification in CST/TS-C/NRCST/SA-C is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or Military Training (68D) preferred or required per region.
• Current Surgical Tech Certification preferred; SC region certification required for South Carolina region.

• Ensure that the operating room environment is safe and that equipment functions properly.
• Apply sterile and aseptic technique and support the physician’s performance of procedures.

What We Offer

• Schedule: FT, 0.9 FTE, Day Shift, 7am-7pm
• Department: Operating Room – Orthopedic Hospital
• Requirements: Minimum 1 year Surgical Tech experience.

What You'll Do

• Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures
• Ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly
• Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required.
• Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
• Licensure/certification/registration: Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred. Current Surgical Tech Certification - based on state specific regulations (South Carolina Region Only), required.
• Additional skills required: For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
