Job summary

UF Health in St. Augustine, FL seeks a Surgical Technician to provide perioperative support. Responsibilities include preparing supplies, setting up sterile fields, and assisting the surgical team during procedures.

Must have a accredited Surgical Tech program or 1-year experience, plus BLS (AHA) clearance within 30 days. PRN, variable hours with on-site duties in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate Accredited Surgical Tech Program or 1-year Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech experience.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire; preferred: Certified Scrub Technician.
• Must withstand stressful situations and maintain organization.
• Good interpersonal relations and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Tech provides surgical assistance pre and post operation.
• Organizes and prepares supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Sets up the operating surgeon’s sterile field and anticipates surgeon's needs.
• Provides direct assistance for surgical procedure: assists surgeon with surgical gowns and gloves, hands the desired instruments to the surgeon during the operation, prepares sterile dressings.
• Cleans the surgical instruments and operating room post operation.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Graduate Accredited Surgical Tech Program OR 1-year Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech experience.

Experience

• Required: Less than 1 year Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech experience.

Certificates / Licenses / Registration

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire
• Preferred: Certified Scrub Technician.
