Responsibilities

• Pass surgical instruments in operating room
• Maintain sterile field and assist/perform surgical case counts
• Open room independently or with circulating nurse depending on case complexity
• Set up and maintain sterile field until patient exits the room
• Pass instruments to surgeons, anticipating needs
• Monitor for breaks in sterile technique and take corrective action
• Perform counts in accordance with policy
