Role Overview:

The Surgical Technologist/Surgical Assistant supports surgeons during operations by preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and assisting with patient care before, during, and after surgery. They ensure a sterile environment, assist anesthesia, and help with patient positioning and specimen labeling.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement patient care procedures under supervision, demonstrating competency across various surgical techniques and patient ages.
• Set up and maintain sterile equipment, assist with intraoperative activities, and ensure safety and cleanliness of the operating room.
• Support anesthesia and prepare patients, including positioning and site preparation.
• Assist with specimen handling and patient transfer to post-anesthesia care units.
• Participate in care planning, documentation, and collaboration with the surgical team.
• Provide patient advocacy and maintain effective communication in stressful situations.
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor to new team members and perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience with at least 2 years’ practice.
