Job Title: Clinical Rotation Preceptor - Surgical Technologist

$3000 Sign On Bonus

Summary: The Clinical Rotation Preceptor reports to the Clinical Coordinator. Clinical education, under the supervision of skilled preceptors, provides students with the practical experience they need to develop advanced practice skills. The most important responsibility of the preceptor is to socialize the student to the role of health care provider through both formal and informal education. The preceptor guides the student’s clinical learning experience, facilitates student autonomy, and acts as a role model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Preceptor:

  1. Direct overall goals and objectives for the practicum experience based on student outcome objectives provided by College faculty.
  2. Assist the student in applying theory to practice.
  3. Evaluate the student’s identified learning objectives.
  4. Assist the student to develop and improve performance.
  5. Utilize appropriate teaching methods to help the student meet his/her learning objectives.
  6. Facilitate an informal, collaborative and mutually respectful environment in which to learn.
  7. Review the objectives of the course and student’s clinical objectives to determine the type of learning opportunities that will enhance student learning.
  8. Promptly communicate issues of concern or unsafe practice regarding the student to clinical faculty.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Instructor:

  1. Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged classroom experience to students.
  2. Guarantee that students have been presented with material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within a student’s program of study.
  3. Ensure the instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, and properly maintained.
  4. Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaging classroom for all students; maintain required certification and licensure.
  5. Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
  6. Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory bodies’ guidelines, along with internal policies of the company.
  7. Monitor attendance of students and submit to registrar’s office before leaving work day/evening.
  8. Prepare weekly lesson plans; follow syllabi to maintain a pace to meet requirements.
  9. Ensure strict adherence to school schedule.
  10. Notify director of all incidents and/or issues immediately.
  11. Grade tests and submit grades on time to registrar’s office.
  12. Maintain and clean classrooms, laboratory areas, and faculty offices.
  13. Arrive for work, be in your classroom to greet students and begin class on time.
