Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in patient positioning, sterile technique, and instrument handling in a fast-paced operating room environment. The role requires CPR certification and completion of an accredited surgical technology program, with 1 year of OR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR Certification is required.
• Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program is required.
• 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist is strongly preferred or experience within healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assists in positioning and transferring of patients.
• Prepares, maintains, and monitors sterile set-up.
• Dispose of linen, gloves, and sharps in appropriate containers.
• Transport instruments to decontamination area.
• Check function of equipment and instruments prior to case.
• Maintain sterile field until dressings are applied or patient is out of room.
• Identify and report breaks in sterile technique.
• Handle contaminated items properly and dispose of debris.
• Replace equipment and supplies used intra-operatively.
• Ensure completeness of instrument trays before/after a case.
• Maintain proper care and handling of specialty instruments.
• Establish and maintain neutral zone when passing sharps.
