Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support sterile technique and patient safety in the operating room.

You will assist in positioning patients, prepare sterile fields, and manage instrument trays. A HS diploma and accredited program are required, with CPR certification; experience preferred.

Formación

• Minimum 1 year experience as a surgical technologist or healthcare setting experience.
• CPR certification required; surgical technologist certification preferred.
• Graduate from accredited surgical technologist program required.

Responsabilidades

• Assists in positioning and transferring patients.
• Prepares, maintains, and monitors sterile setup.
• Disposes of linen, gloves and sharps in appropriate containers.
• Transports instruments to decontamination area and ensures sterile fields are maintained.
• Checks function of equipment and instruments prior to cases.
• Maintains instrument trays and passes sharps safely.

We welcome all healthcare professionals to join our thriving community and contribute to our pursuit for clinical excellence.Department:Job Description Summary:Position ResponsibilitiesAssists in positioning and transferring of patients.Prepares, maintains, and monitors sterile set-up.Dispose of linen, gloves, and sharps in appropriate containers.Transport instruments in appropriate manner to decontamination area.Prior to case, checks function of equipment and instruments.Assures maintenance of sterile field until dressings are applied, x-rays are taken, or patient is out of the room.Points out break in sterile technique of self and /or team members to the RN circulator immediately.Handles contaminated items in appropriate manner by placing them in red bags or linen bin.Replaces equipment and supplies used intra-operatively insuring that they are in good working order.Ensures completeness of instrument trays before and after a case. Removes all instruments from sterile drape.Demonstrates knowledge of proper care and handling of specialty instruments.Establish and maintain a neutral zone when passing sharps on the sterile field to prevent injury/ exposure to self and others.Adheres to personal protective equipment protocol at all times. Wear eye protection when scrubbed at the field.Identifies and labels all medication on back table.Inspects sterile packages, containers, and trays for integrity prior to placing on sterile field.Inspects all sterile trays for indicator changes prior to placing on sterile field.Checks case supplies according to surgeon's preference list.Maintains current CPR status.Assists surgical service assistants with room turnover by disposing of surgical debris in biohazard bags.Identifies specimens verbally when passing them off to the circulator.Facilitates and monitors patient safety by providing a safe environment.Removes and put away unused supplies and sutures after each use.Reports broken equipment/instruments to charge nurse of the service and the core desk.QualificationsLicense/Registration/CertificationCPR Certification required and Surgical Technician Certification preferred.EducationHS Diploma. Graduate from accredited surgical technologist program required.Experience1 year experience as a surgical technologist strongly preferred or experience within healthcare environment.
