Job summary

Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, CA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the surgeon during operative procedures and maintain sterile technique under RN supervision. The role involves preparing the operating room, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready, and supporting the surgical team throughout the case.

The ideal candidate will have completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or extensive experience, with Surgical Technologist certification preferred

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or 15 years of experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting is required.
• Surgical Technologist certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and environment before the patient is brought in.
• Ensures instruments, supplies, and equipment are available for the case.
• Maintains sterile technique and sterility of the field throughout the procedure.
• Assists the surgeon by passing appropriate instruments and anticipating needs.
• Performs counts and ensures correct labeling and handling of specimens.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and room turnover as needed.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; adheres to hospital policies and safety rules.
