Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Current registration with the State of Washington as a Surgical Technician.
• Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to take night and/or weekend call.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
• Ability to maintain a sterile field and assist with draping.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Team-oriented and able to anticipate surgeon and patient needs.
• Able to operate in emergency and stressful situations.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and sustain a retracted position as needed.
• Good visual and auditory acuity.
• Extensive walking, standing, lifting, bending; proper body mechanics.
• Move equipment using a wheeled cart.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies).
• Pass instruments and anticipate needs for surgeons and nurses.
• Maintain the sterile field and aseptic technique.
• Count items and handle specimens.
• Assist with patient positioning.
• Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in fast-paced settings.
