Job summary

Independence Health System Inc. in Pennsylvania seeks a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team as a scrub member under RN and surgeon direction. You will prepare sterile setups, obtain instruments, and assist during procedures.

Essential duties include direct and indirect patient care, documentation, safe patient identification, collaboration with physicians, and participation in quality improvement and regulatory compliance. CST certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of surgical technology program.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital/departmental policies and standards.
• Assists the RN in reassessment and implementation of individualized care plans.
• Maintains accurate documentation on OR counts and verification checklists.
• Functions as the scrub member of the surgical team and assists the surgeon during procedures.
• Participates in unit performance improvement and infection control activities.
• Acts as a patient advocate and mentor to new hires and students.
