Job summary

The Surgical Technologist at Cincinnati Children’s is an essential OR team member, preparing and maintaining the sterile field, organizing instruments, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures. Schedule includes day shifts, 7:00 a.m.

to 5:30 p.m., 8- or 10-hour options, 8-week blocks, and on-call duties with weekday and weekend shifts; report to the OR within 30 minutes when called.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Surgical Technology from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program.
• Surgical Technologist certification required within one year of hire.
• New Surgical Technology graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Anticipate procedural needs and provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team.
• Promote patient and team safety by following established surgical practices and protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative team members.
• Participate in ongoing education, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Education
